Restoring and Replicating Leather Pads for a
Frictional Static Machine

Original pads were worn.  Amalgam still can be seen on leather - traditionally a mix of 50% tin + 50 % zinc + an equal weight of mercury

Replicate pads (without Amalgam)

Experimental pads

Nailing leather to mahogany - tedious!

Top left open for horse hair - actually used Mule hair from Mary's mane

Mahogany from Habitat from Humanity local in West Palm Beach

Reproduction for a new machine

Frank's Carre Di-Electric Machine.  So cool!

Made a few more!
